Release 36 is out!….it’s been out!
Last week we pushed out some new features and fixes to make GiveGab a better site to enable volunteers to take action in their local communities. Here are some of the highlights:
Invite-O-Matic 4000

We made some improvements to our Invite-O-Matic 4000. You can now search your Gmail contacts for someone specific. Or you could choose to invite all of them at once. This makes building up a community of volunteers even easier.

Another way to get your friends to volunteer on the site is by using your personalized URL. Anyone who follows this link will become your volunteer recruit on GiveGab. This makes it easier if you want to share a permanent link on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, your blog, etc.. This link can be found on the Invite-O-Matic 4000, if you are logged in to GiveGab.
Better URLs

URLs have been modified to better reflect the content of the page. For example, a nonprofit’s name or an event’s name will appear in the URL. In the past we used a numeric system. First off, this change makes any external links to our site a little more friendly to users that are viewing them. It also will allow a nonprofit or event name to be properly indexed by search engines, so they show up in search results.
We capitalized a “G”!
The second “G” in our name has been capitalized. “Givegab” is now “GiveGab”, text and logos around the site have been updated. This should make our name more recognizable and easier to pronounce at first glance.
More Radius Choices
Based on feedback from college students and urban users, we added some smaller choices to our location radius. This should help volunteers who prefer walking or biking to their opportunities.
Cities Page

We have created some quick links to various metro areas around the country, so that visitors to our site can check out what volunteer opportunities are in their city without having to type any information in.
Better I.E. Support
Older versions of Internet Explorer had some issues with our sign-up process, we took measures to make sure users with these browsers had a better experience. We still recommend viewing our site with the current version of the browser of your choice.
In addition to these features, we also added numerous minor enhancements. All in all, our awesome development team has finished 37 user stories and bugs for this release.
